About Me
Evelyn Barajas is a first-generation immigrant and self-taught artist, born and raised in Lynwood, California. Her love of art and creative ability began at a very young age. While Evelyn studied web design, she continued exploring and developing her artistic talents, which led her to work as a freelance artist, creative business owner, and elementary art teacher.
Evelyn loves creating colorful art inspired by her Mexican heritage, Oaxacan indigenous roots, and first-gen experiences. Most of her art is done digitally using Procreate. When she needs a break from the screen, she enjoys painting with gouache paint and exploring different mediums. She is passionate about making art that highlights her community, represents diversity, and inspires others.
She currently lives in Fresno, California where she enjoys hot yoga practice, teaching the next generation of artists, and spending time with her family and friends.
Evelyn enjoys working with like minded clients. To work with her, please reach out.
Books Illustrated by Me
Mi Abuelo Cesar is a beautifully illustrated picture book that celebrates family, heritage, and the legacy of Cesar Chavez through the eyes of his grandson. Written by Eduardo Chavez, this story introduces young readers to Cesar's values of compassion, serving your community, and justice. With intricate illustrations and accessible storytelling, Mi Abuelo Cesar is perfect for children ages 5-9, classrooms learning about American history, and families who want to share the power of standing up for what's right. A tribute to the bond between grandfather and grandson, this story encourages empathy, courage, and pride in one's roots.

Young Maya can't wait to make corn tortillas with her Mami when she suddenly finds herself on an adventure through Tortilla Land, where she becomes the Princess of Tortillas! She gets to see how tortillas are made and helps her friends free themselves from a gooey, glittery blob, sallitrot, invading every corner of their home. To help save the tortillas, Maya shows her friends the power and love of nixtamal and how warm corn tortillas bring families together. They all celebrate with a big tortilla party! How many tortillas can you eat? If you've ever wondered how corn turns into tortillas, you can find a recipe inside and make them at home, in your own Tortilla Land.
